Sustainable Putnam

Town of Putnam Valley

Lake Oscawana in Putnam Valley

Putnam Valley is a scenic town, nestled amongst the Hudson Highlands. Fahnestock State Park is partially within the town’s boundaries, and the Hudson Highlands Land Trust studies and maintains the ecologically significant Granite Mountain Preserve.

Putnam Valley has taken several important steps to combat the climate crisis, including the launch of its own Solarize Putnam campaign, led by its Climate Smart Community Task Force (see links below).

As of 2018, Putnam Valley’s population was 11,600. The town is governed by a Town Board made up of its Supervisor and four Council members.  Putnam Valley also has its own K-12 public school district and public library, and is home to the Tompkins Corners Cultural Center, a dynamic local center for musical, theatrical, and literary performances.

Tompkins Corners Cultural Center is a hidden gem of Putnam culture, situated along Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley.
