What is a Repair Café?
A Repair Café is an event where residents can bring various household goods that need repair. They are organized and staffed with Sustainable Putnam volunteers who enjoy fixing things and helping others. Repairs are performed for free. If necessary parts are available, they are sold at cost.
How does it work?
You’ll be checked in at the reception table as you enter the Middle School Cafeteria, and directed to the appropriate Repair Coach. Repair guests assist the “Repair Coach”, learning about maintenance and repairs as the work is completed. Free beverages, and learn about repairs with the help of an expert Repair Coach. Repairs are performed for free. If necessary parts are available, they are sold at cost.
Can I volunteer?
Yes, you may! We need event staff volunteers to help set up, check in guests, and serve refreshments.
We also need “repair coaches” — volunteers who do the mending and fixing of household items. Whether you like to fix stuff or want to learn, we could use your help. Complete the volunteer interest form below.
